I have to say this upfront. This blog is going to blur the lines between personal and professional. As president of my own business, I’m grateful for the blessings, opportunities, and support I’ve received through the years. But with all the pressures that come with business ownership, from staffing to billing to business development, being grateful for what I’ve been given is sometimes very difficult to muster.

Wow, I cannot believe October is basically over, which means this year is almost over! I feel like I blinked, and 2021 was done. Despite how fast the year went by, though, it still had a lot of celebratory moments.

October is here, and I am so happy because I have many things to celebrate; Halloween is only 18 days away, and I know my costume is going to be great. I’m celebrating my anniversary with my significant other—a lot of joyous moments. Like many young professionals whose career is growing, I’ve had some “Oops” moments, and I think it’s time to celebrate them.

Happy Hispanic Heritage month to you all, and welcome to part two! Last week Rachon wrote an amazing blog about how he’s elevating the Hispanic community by using his status as a Hispanic-American to act as a bridge between his American and Mexican roots. I am also in a similar position as a Mexican and Puerto Rican woman who was born and raised in the states, but I didn’t realize the importance of that role until I started working on this blog.

The Indiana Citizen is a nonpartisan, nonprofit engagement platform that works tirelessly to increase the number of informed Hoosiers by promoting civic literacy. Currently, they’re working to educate marginalized communities on racial justice requiring fair maps as the legislative redistricting vote is quickly approaching. I would like to say to my community, friends, family, culture, and everyone a Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! The word of the month is elevate. Earlier, Denise talked about chasing dreams while Selena gave us the tools on how to do that. Now I am sitting here thinking, what is it I can do? As I thought further about what I could do, I talked with my co-worker, Kierra, who is also Hispanic, and we decided that we would create a collaborative blog discussing “Elevating the status of Hispanic-Americans.”
