Chris Gahl

#HaveYouHerd: Kicking off the first #FridayFeature for the month of September is someone who is elevating Indianapolis’ footprint in the marketplace. Chris Gahl is the Senior Vice-President of Marketing & Communications for Visit Indy. To learn about how he continuously elevates our community, keep on reading.

Chris Gahl is a Butler University alumnus who serves as the Senior Vice President for Visit Indy, where he oversees marketing, communications, and community relations. He previously owned a marketing firm in Honolulu, assisting with tourism in Hawaii, which is what gave birth to his passion for the industry. Chris stays active in the community by serving on many boards, including Indiana Humanities, Newfields, and the Kennedy King Memorial Initiative. What others may not know about Chris is that he is a cancer survivor, beating testicular cancer with help from God and an assist by world-renowned Indy oncologist Dr. Larry Einhorn.

We asked Chris what elevating Indianapolis looks like to him, and he said, “To truly elevate Indy, to make a meaningful and sustained change, it’s incumbent on the business community to allocate time and resources towards equity. Actions speak louder than words. Seats in boardrooms across our city need to be diversified to ensure a diversity of thought and creativity surface for Indy’s future.”

A bit of advice that Chris has to offer those who want to do more in their community is to find a cause you genuinely care about, raise your hand, and proactively reach out to volunteer your time within a committee or board service.

Currently, Chris has his hands full with the College Football Playoff National Championship game. It will be a long weekend in mid-January, with over 150,000 visitors in Indianapolis. Hosting this event will ensure Indy’s recovery is ahead of other major cities. It’s a lot of work, but no one is more qualified than Chris to take this on.

Chris Gahl is a shining pillar in the Indianapolis community who truly cares for elevating the city’s status in tourism. We thank you for all of your hard work, Chris. To keep up with Chris, you can follow him and Visit Indy on Facebook (@visitindy), Twitter (@VisitIndy), Instagram (@visitindy), or their website: https://www.visitindy.com/.
