Why Not Me

Our “Spring Forward” theme teaches us to look at the journey of life objectively. Denise, Kierra, and Selena's blog challenges us to move forward and do the hard work needed to become stronger than ever.

In order to “Spring Forward,” we must shift our thinking from the “why me” mentality to “why not me”; The fact is, life happens to us all. The difference between those that choose the latter is the effort to move past the pain, challenging moments, and sometimes grief or trauma of life and use it to fuel their purpose.

There is no weakness in linking arms with those that support you to better position yourself in life. There are resources that can help you gain the power to choose YOU over any situations you may be facing. Get therapy, cry it out and take the time you need to heal.

If I'm being honest, I've been on the “why me” train one too many times—continually wondering why circumstances seemed to follow me or choose me more than others. I would challenge myself daily with negative self-talk and lack of confidence due to other people's thoughts. The mental stress of bearing the “why me” burden took a toll on removing myself from people or situations, blocking me from all I was created to do.

I would share the note that you can do it; you just have to believe it. Yes, I know how cliche that sounds. I've side-eyed people saying the same thing to me while thinking, “How I've survived today is a pure miracle,” and you expect me to be optimistic and believe things can change?

Friend, things can change for the better. Things can go in your favor. Change your mindset, and it will change the world around you. “Spring Forward.”
