Dana McFarlin
#HaveYouHerd: Finishing out our last #FridayFeature for the Month of May is someone who stays unbothered while making others feel their best. Dana McFarlin is a licensed Esthetician who is also the owner of Clarity Skin Care Solution, located right here in Indianapolis. To find out how she does both, keep on reading.
Dana is a licensed esthetician with 24 years of experience working in skincare sales, day spas, and so much more. She specializes in acne and hyperpigmentation. She graduated from DePauw University with a degree in Communication. She also owns Clarity Skin Care Studio in Indianapolis, Indiana. Something we thought was so interesting was that Dana worked for was the first Black dermatologist in Indianapolis, Dr. Arthur Sumrall.
When we asked Dana for her definition of unbothered, she said, “To be unbothered means that you don’t let things affect you too deeply, especially minor things. Even when dealing with a challenging personality type or situation, you don’t allow it to affect the headspace you’re in. You dodge and deflect the negative energy.” A fun fact about Dana is that she knows how to make jewelry and many of her pieces are worn by people you may know, including our very own, Denise Herd.
Some advice that Dana has for those following in her footsteps is “To a get a solid business foundation and to specialize in something. There are so many directions that one can go with a skincare business, but as the saying goes, “A Jack of all trades is a master of none.” Choose an area of skincare that you love and hone in with a laser-like focus. Your expertise will speak for itself.”
Currently, Dana is working on herself and her brand. She is expanding her social media presence, refining her business processes, and developing a concept for an acne skin care line in the future.
