Bill Skaggs

We continue our #PRIDE theme with one of Indy's most integral leaders, Executive Director of the Indy Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, Bill Skaggs. As a member of the Rainbow Chamber, Bill works alongside the board to create business environments that are inclusive and promote central Indiana as a welcoming place to live, visit and do business. His dedication to serving the LGBTQIA community and making Indianapolis a safe space for all is something that we truly admire and appreciate here at Herd Strategies.

Bill has focused most of his career on marketing, public relations, branding, and social media. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in public relations from Western Kentucky University and went on to earn his master’s from Ball State University. Before beginning his journey with the Rainbow Chamber, Bill worked for Butler, NUVO and was a founding member of PINKSLIP, an all queer entertainment and comedy company here in Indianapolis.

Bill was attracted to the opportunity of becoming executive director of the Rainbow Chamber through his passion for helping underrepresented communities grow their network and help their business. His goal in the coming year is to continue the chamber's mission by aligning with organizations like the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce and more female-owned and operated businesses. When we asked Bill what he feels is moving the organization forward, he stated, "The momentum is definitely there, but there needs to be more movement. I encourage others to support the LGBTQ+ business community by buying their products and services to help them thrive."

When Bill isn't leading the charge at the chamber, you can find him directing improv comedy shows for Circle City Improv and PINKSLIP. He is a champion for the LGBTQ+ and believes in being proud of your community and its accomplishments.
