#HaveYouHerd: Today’s #FridayFeature is someone whose legacy has paved the way for many Black, female-owned businesses to rise and be successful. We are happy to highlight Kristian Stricklen, President of the Madam Walker Legacy Center, whose mission is to preserve the legacy of the female, self-made millionaire, Madam C.J. Walker. Kristian Stricklen has had a dynamic career in strategic communication & marketing that spans over 25 years. Previously, she worked as the Chief Communications and Engagement Officer for Indianapolis Public Schools, but she has worked on both local grassroots projects and global campaigns. Aside from her communications work, Kristian is the founder of Jacob’s Ladder, an autism initiative named in honor of her son. She has also sat on boards for the Indiana Black Expo, Autism Speaks -Indianapolis and the Indiana Coalition of Special Needs Parents. Something many may not know about Kristian is that she modeled for Benetton and John Paul Mitchell in high school.

The Center’s purpose and mission are dedicated to preserving Madam C.J. Walker's legacy by providing cultural education, promoting social justice, supporting entrepreneurship, and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and civic leaders. Kristian just finished hosting Indy native Mike Epps on his next comedy special, which was filmed at the Historic Walker Theatre. Coming up in 2022 for Kristian is preparing for the 95th anniversary of the Madam Walker Legacy Center, as well as launching new programming.
