I See You

Just like Kierra said last week, "I am enough," I know all too well how many times that statement plays over and over in our heads as working moms. We wonder if we are enough at work, if we are enough at home… But I am here to tell you that we are enough - and I see you!

I see how hard you work every day, and I know you are exhausted. You feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, and everyone's needs seem to be a priority. At the same time, you also wonder if you will ever meet each one adequately.

I see you trying to assert yourself at work so that you will be taken seriously and not labeled as "mom" in the boardroom, but also trying to establish a healthy boundary between work and home. I see the guilt on your face when you can't take a 5 p.m. meeting because you have to leave work in time to pick up the kids. I see you rushing your kids' bedtime routine so that you can hurry up and get back to your computer to finish work or get ahead. I see you!

I see you because I am you! There are days when you feel like no one will understand you or the balance you're trying to find. I see the days when the juggle feels manageable and the days when it feels utterly impossible.

While you're pushing through exhaustion and digging deep at work, I also see that you're inspiring a woman who desires to have children. You're debunking the myths that women can't have careers and be a mom. You're also showing your kids the value of hard work and that it's essential to pursue their passions and follow their dreams. You're setting an example!

You're attributing your hard work to the women who fought so hard for us to enter the workforce and be seen just like our male counterparts. You don't want to let them down.

I see you, and I want you to know that you are doing the damn thing, even if your hard work goes unnoticed by others. I want you to know that- I see you!
