I Am Enough

Last week, Denise wrote about the song “I’m Every Woman” being an anthem for women warriors, and I couldn’t agree more. The song reminds us of our strength and emphasizes that women can truly do anything they set their minds to. That being said, there are a lot of pressures that come with being a #WarriorWoman. Knowing that you’re capable of anything can make you feel like you have to do it all, but that’s not the case.

As women, we are expected to hold a lot of titles. Not only should we be primped and preened at all times, but we’re also supposed to be homemakers, caretakers, hard-workers, and everything else under the sun. Having all of these titles can lead to many women stretching themselves too thin in an attempt to check every box.

For a long time, I was the woman who was trying to do it all because I felt like I should. I saw other women managing to be mothers, business women, socialites, etc., all at once and thought, “If she can do it, why can’t I?” I had to take a step back and remind myself that I don’t need to do everything to be a warrior. I work hard, I’m a good daughter, I’m a supportive wife, I’m a dependable friend– I am enough.

It’s easy to compare yourself to other women and strive for perfection, but no one is perfect. Everyone has their struggles, even those women that look like they have it all figured out, so don’t beat yourself up. Love yourself, work at your own pace and never forget that you are enough.
