Second Generation of Excellence: Eddie Pillow, Pillow Logistics

According to the recent U.S. Census, 90% of all small businesses are family owned and operated. One of the contributing reasons for this impressive result is succession planning. There are many companies throughout the state and our nation that are second and third-generation family-run, and one that has been able to stand the test of time is Pillow Logistics.

In 1988, after a successful career in state government, George Pillow Jr. had a dream of entrepreneurship. After contemplating different types of businesses, former COO of Methodist Hospital and long-time friend Sam Odle gave him the idea for a courier service. Odle was looking to expand operations at the hospital and needed a courier to transport lab work and other materials. Pillow took the advice of his friend and has since created a business that extends more than three decades with locations in Indianapolis, Evansville, and Fort Wayne, with plans to open in Merrillville later this year.

In 2010, Pillow felt it was time to move Pillow Logistics in a new direction. When he voiced this desire, his namesake, George (Eddie) Pillow, stepped in to take the organization's reins and usher Pillow Logistics to greater heights. Eddie traded the beaches and sunshine of California for the unpredictable weather of the Midwest and has never looked back. Since taking the helm of Pillow Logistics, he has made significant contributions to his father’s dream through innovation and a keen focus on customer service.

Currently, Pillow Logistics employs 42 individuals and has more than 150 contract drivers who travel the state of Indiana and beyond. With services ranging from transportation/courier, warehousing, medical delivery, facility support, life sciences, and final mile logistics Pillow Logistics is poised for success beyond its dreams.

We proudly celebrate Pillow Logistics and congratulate them for 35 years of being in business and impacting the logistics industry in unprecedented ways. Congratulations.
